To our precious Madilyn

Image
To our precious daughter Madilyn: You were in fact always so precious to us - our firstborn. You paved the way for Patrick and Josie and shaped us into the parents we have become. How? With your soft and gentle spirit? Maybe a little bit of that. But to be direct sweetheart, you forced us to become strong because of your very stubborn and determined personality. We have never encountered such a strong willed little girl. When we say you paved the way for your younger siblings, we mean that you made parenting them seem easy - like a stroll in the park compared to the battles we had to have with you. Our dear Madilyn, many moments with you were spent in loving frustration as you were just so stubborn in every stage of your young and precious life.  And yet, even in the midst of your focused and determined ways, your sweet and caring nature shined through.  Your contagious laugh, beautiful smile and eyes full of wonderful curiosity kept our hearts tender. Our sweet Madilyn

It is with heavy hearts we share that Madilyn was taken home and received into the arms of her Lord late last evening, March 6. We are thankful we were able to care for her at home and be next to her as she drew her last breath.   We are terribly saddened and broken. She was brought to Wingham hospital where they confirmed she had another brain bleed from the tumour which induced seizure(s). After meeting with the healthcare team on Feb 24 (the day of her MRI) it was decided that Madilyn’s goals of care are comfort and to have her home through her end-of-life process. Home care was starting to be arranged. But after the events of this morning, it seems like the timeline for all this was accelerated. Madilyn is home with us now. She can’t move much on her own and is barely able to talk or swallow. Her vital signs are st...
